I. The forefathers 

(1683-1768)

Ancestor - Laurs Pedersen

Peder Laurssen or Lauridsen was born in October 1698 estimated from his age when he died. It is told, that he was born at the farm Sønder Skadhauge in Tømmerby Parish, not far from the farm Myrup. Unfortunately, the parish registers for Tømmerby and Lild Parishes no longer exists for the period 1673-1728, so we don’t know who his parents were.

He was a farmer (copyholder) and fisherman at Skadhauge or Skadhave (sometimes named Sønder Skadhauge).

Maren Poulsdatter was born 31st December 1703 in Vesløs Parish as daughter of copyholder Poul Jensen, Vesløs and wife Anne Simonsdatter, and baptized ‘Maren’ 1st January 1704 in Vesløs Church.

Peter and Maren got betrothed 5th May and married 5th July 1729 in Tømmerby Church with Jens Lauridsen (his brother) and Jens Pedersen as groomsmen. He was 30 years, and she was 25 years old. ”Peder Lauridsen of Sønder Skadhave and Maren Povelsdatter of Vesløs”.

The farms Sønder and Nørre Skadhave or Skadhauge does not exist anymore, but they were situated west of the town Frøstrup in Tømmerby Parish and 4 km south of Myrup in Lild Parish.

Peder Lauridsen died 62 years old at Sønder Skadhauge in Tømmerby Parish and was buried 29th March 1761.

Maren Povelsdatter died 64 years old as a widow at Sønder Skadhauge in Tømmerby Parish and was buried 24th February 1768.

Peder Laursen and Maren Poulsdatter had 6 children, all born at Skadhauge, Tømmerby Parish. Their first born was a son - Laurs Pedersen (ancestor).

2. Poul Pedersen baptized 30/3 1732, d. 1802, farmer in Frøstrup, married to Appelone Christensdatter (1733-?)..

3. Morten Pedersen baptized 27/2 1735, d. 1798, farmer in Søndre Skadhauge, married to Sidsel Christensdatter (1732-1811).

4. Anne Pedersdatter baptized 6/3 1737.

5. Margrethe Pedersdatter baptized 22/11 1739 , d. 1810, married to Niels Pedersen (Rærgaard).(1757-1806), farmer at Ræhrgård, Lild Sogn. Their great grand daughter Christine Hansen Ræhrgaard came to live at Myrupgård, when she married III-A3.B17.C4 Kasper Vabesgaard Myrup

6. Kirsten Pedersdatter baptized 7/7 1743. She was married to Povel Larsen (1745-?), smallholder in Frøstrup.

Ancestress - Bodild Laursdatter

Laurs Nielsen was born in June 1683 estimated from his age when he died, as a son of Niels Pedersen at Holegård in Lild Parish.

Ellen Pedersdatter was born in May 1688 estimated from her age when she died. Her parents and birthplace are unknown.

They got married before 1719; when their daughter Kirsten was born. Laurs was 36 years and Ellen was 31 years old.

As the parish register for Tømmerby and Lild Parishes no longer exist for the period 1673-1728, we don’t know their accurate birth dates, parents and wedding date.

Holegård, Hvolle or Hole as it was called, is situated 3 km east of Myrup, just north of the town Bjerget By in Lild Parish. The farm goes back to 1664 and in 1789 it became freehold. The farm got out of the family’s ownership in 1806, but came back in 1896 with I-A6.B5.C14 Jens Andreas Pedersen Bliksted, whose descendants still owns it.

Laurs Nielsen was a farmer (copyholder) at Hvolle (Holegård)  in Lild Parish, which he took over from his father at his death around 1720.

Laurs Nielsen died 56 years old at Hvolle (Holegård), Lild Parish and was buried 7th June 1740.

Ellen ran the farm after her husband’s death until her son Peter took it over in 1752.

Ellen Pedersdatter died 67 years old at Hvolle (Holegård), Lild Parish and was buried 20th May 1755.

They got 5 children, and at least the two youngest was born at Hvolle in Lild Parish, and the fourth child was a daughter - Bodild Laursdatter (ancestress). According to Ingvard Jakobsen and the probate after Laurs Nielsen they had two children more – Anders and Else, but they must have been born before 1728 when the parish register begins.

1. Kirsten Laursdatter born January 1719, d. 1752, 33 years old, married 1751 to Peder Laursen, widower from Nørklit.

2. Jens Laurssen born September 1722, d. 1795, married to Maren Christensdatter, and they lived at Hvolle. He had a son Christen Jensen, called Kvolsgaard, who was a grandfather of I-A2.B2.C2.D6 Christian Martinus Christensen (Kvolsgaard), writer and teacher at a teacher college.

3. Dorthe Lauridsdatter born July 1723, d. 22/2 1756, 32 years old at Hvolle, unmarried.

4. Stillborn children – a boy and a girl born and died 21/11 1728.

5. Bodild Laursdatter, baptized 19/11 1730 - Ancestress.

6. Peder Laurssen, baptized 8/11 1733, d. 1802, married 1752 to Anne Pedersdatter, and they took over the tenancy of Hvolle in 1752.

Anders Lauridsen, called Anders Myrup, was born around 1689 likely at Myrup and probably as son of Laurs Andersen (1644-1730), who died at Myrup, and his wife Else Nielsdatter (1659-1742), who also died at Myrup.

Anders Laursen was married to Maren Pedersdatter, who was born around 1684. She was most likely Ellen Pedersdatter’s sister. They were both godparents at baptism in both family I and II.

“Anders Lauridsen of Øster Myrup” died 67 years old and wad buried 20th June 1756 and “Maren Pedersdatter, widow at Øster Myrup” died 74 years old and was buried 10th December 1758. I have not found any children. “Øster (East) Myrup” was Myrupgård. See ‘The village of Myrup’.

I. The Myrup ancestors (1730-1807)

Laurs Pedersen, called Lars Myrup, was born in 1730 at Skadhauge, Tømmerby Parish as son of Peder Laurssen and wife Maren Pouelsdatter at Skadhauge and baptized ‘Laurs’ 14th May 1730 at Tømmerby Church. Godparents at his baptism were Bendt Jensen in Tømmerby, Niels Laurssen in Langvad, Christen Poulsen in Wesløs, Anne Laursdatter Christen Dxx’s wife in Frøstrup and Else Margrethe at Præstegård.

Bodild Laursdatter was born in 1730 at Hvolle, Lild Parish, a neighbor farm to Myrup, as daughter of Laurs Nielsen and wife Ellen Pedersdatter at Hvolle and baptized ‘Bodild’ 19th November 1730 at Lild Church. NN Pedersen in Bjerget, Christen Laurssen and Niels Laurssen at Hvolle, and Maren Andersdatter Christen Laurssen’s wife at Hvolle and Anne Poulsdatter at Lundergaard were godparents at her baptism in 1730, while her aunt, Anders Laurssen’s wife, Maren Pedersdatter was godparent at her brother Peder’s baptism and at Niels Christensen’s baptism (family II) in 1730.

As a child Bodild moved to her mother’s sister Maren Pedersdatter and her husband Anders Laurssen at Myrup after her father’s early death in 1740, when she was 10 years old.

Bodild Laursdatter was godparent at the baptism of Niels Christensen's first and second child in 1749 and 1750 - see family II, and she then lived at Myrup. Niels Christian at Diernæs (family III) was godparent at the baptism of Lars and Bodild’s daughter Kirsten in 1765.

From Lild Parish Register: "Laust Pedersen og Bodild Laursdatter i Myrup'" Married 21st september 1753.

Laust Pedersen and Bodild Laursdatter married 21st September 1753 in Lild Church. They were both mentioned as 'in Myrup', and her uncle Anders Myrup (as her own father was dead) and his father Peder Laursen were groomsmen. He was 23 years and she was 22 years old.

Laurs Pedersen was a farmer (copyholder) at Myrup. In 1786 Lars Myrup and Bodild Larsdatter moved to Hjardemål Klit and took over the copyhold of Madsbøl. According to the census of 1787 they lived in Klitten in Hjardemål Parish with three of their children, Kirsten, Christen and Lars. Lars Pedersen is described as farmer and farm resident. His son Peder was serving in Kollerup Parish. Anders was serving in Vust Parish. The youngest Maren was serving in Lild Parish. The oldest Maren and Ellen were both married and lived in Lild Parish. The moving to Hjardemål was probably caused by III. Niels Christian Diernæs buying of Myrupgård in 1786.

Lars and Bodil died as pensioners at their daughter I-A5 Kirsten Larsdatter and her husband Niels Christensen Bojer in Madsbøl, Hjardemål Klit.

Lars Myrup died 66 years old in Hjardemål Klit and was buried 12th February 1797 in Hjardemål Parish.

Bodil Laursdatter died 76 years old as “Lars Myrup’s widow in Klit” and was buried 15th March 1807 in Hjardemål Parish.

Godparents were Jens Mogensen in Glæde, Peder Lauridsen at Hvolle (her mother’s brother), Poul Pedersen at S. Skadhauge (her father’s brother), Maren Poulsdatter, Peder’s wife at S. Skadhauge (her father’s mother) and Maren Nielsdatter at Roelsgaard.

A2. Ellen Lauridsdatter b. 1757, baptized 7/4 1757. Lived in Lild. See I-A2. branch.

Godparents were Christen Madsen at Rotbøl, Peder Lauridsen at Hvolle (her mother’s brother), Poul Pedersen at Skadhauge (her father’s brother), Maren Poulsdatter, Peder's wife at S. Skadhauge (her father’s mother) and Dorthe Lauridsdatter in Nørklit (her mother’s sister).

Godparents were Søren Krog in Glæde, Peder Nielsen at Rærgaard, Morten Pedersen at S. Skadhauge (his father’s brother), Dorothe Eskildsdatter, Christen Olesen’s wife in Nørklit and Christine Christensdatter at Koldkjær.

A4. Maren Larsdatter b. 1762, baptized 21/2 1762. Lived in Lild. See I-A4. branch.

Godparents were Niels Rotbøll, Christen Pedersen in Glæde, Peder Hansen at Koldkjær, Margrethe Pedersdatter at Oddersbøll, Jens Pedersen’s wife in Kæret.

A5. Kirsten Larsdatter b. 1765, baptized 10/2 1765. Lived in Hjardemål. See I-A5. branch.

Godparents were Niels Christian at Diernæs (III-Ancestor), Peder Larsen at Hvolle (her mother’s brother), Morten Pedersen at S. Skadhauge (her father’s brother), Anne Sørensdatter at Græsbøl and Dorthe Lauridsdatter in Nørklit.

A6. Christen Larsen (Myrup) b. 1767, baptized 26/12 1767. Lived in Thisted, later in Ræhr. See I-A6. branch.

Godparents were Hans Pedersen at Koldkjær, Peder Larsen at Hvolle (his mother’s brother), Christen Lauritsen in Nørklit, Dorethe Eskilsdatter Christen Christensen’s wife in Nørklit and Anne Sørensdatter at Græsbøl.

A7. Peder Larsen (Myrup) b. 1770, baptized 12/4 1770. Lived in Lild. See I-A7. branch.

Godparents were Povel Pedersen in Frøstrup (his father’s brother), Christen Pedersen in Glæde, Laurids Pedersen in Nørklit, Sidsel Christensdatter at Skadhauge (his father’s brother’s wife) and Kirsten Pedersdatter in Frøstrup (his father’s sister).

A8. Laurids Larsen (Myrup) b. 1775, baptized 17/9 1775. Lived in Thisted, later in Løgsted. See I-A8. branch.

Godparents were Peder Lauridsen at Hvolle (his mother’s brother), Christen Christensen in Nørklit, Christen Pedersen in Glæde, Maren Pedersdatter at Rærgaard and Kirsten Pedersdatter in Øsløs (his father’s sister?).

It seems strange, that two siblings had the same name - Maren. The oldest Maren has not been found in the parish register under ’Dead’ before the baptism of the next Maren in 1762. Moreover, she was ’of Myrup’, when she married. Laurs Pedersen was a groomsman at both Maren’s marriages. He was also godparent at the baptism of the oldest Maren’s first child. An explanation could be that both Laurs’s and Bodil’s mother were called Maren. Or that the oldest Maren was severe ill at the birth of the next Maren, so they decided to call her Maren.
